Preferences for fictional characters run the gamut between passive and over-active (everyman to superman).
I confess I like, and write, my characters a little larger than life. Notwithstanding that ordinary people can do extraordinary things, I still prefer characters smarter, wittier, wiser and more glamorous than me.
Imagining characters as visually compelling, semi-brilliant and intricately flawed is a fun fantasy for me — imagining them as ordinary, not so much. So I write what I like.
